Veneto is located in northern Italy, south of Lake Garda to Treviso. Veneto is naturally associated with Soave and Valpolicella, two of Italy's most famous wines. But the area has much more to offer. South of Lake Garda there are beautiful summer white wines such as Bianco di Custoza and Lugana or soft red wines from the Verona region. Also very well known is the richest form of Valpolicella: the Amarone, concentrated and alcoholic through the drying of the grapes. In the east, near Treviso is the land of Prosecco, made from the grape variety Glera for the Vino Frizzante and Spumante.
