The wine-growing region Hessische Bergstrasse is located in Hesse, south from Frankfurt. It is one of the smallest wine-growing regions in Germany, with about 440 hectares under cultivation. The well-known mild climate of the Bergstrasse, also known as the German Riviera, is particularly suitable for winegrowing. In addition, the soil is favorable for the vines. The terrain is very rugged and has many steep slopes.
