The Alsatian vineyard extends from Strasbourg to Mulhouse over more than 15,000 hectares. It is one of the largest producer of white wines in France.
Vines have been cultivated in Alsace since Roman times. Only with the catholic monks the tradition continued in the 10th century.
Thanks to a relatively dry climate that intensifies the effects of sunlight, the white grapes ripen best and produce generous and fruity wines.
Alsatian AOC wines account for 74% of the production, Crémants d'Alsace 22% and Grands Crus d'Alsace 4%.
